Known interchangeably as vamps or vampires, glamorous and mysterious women haunted the films and fashions of the 1920s. What if they were both vamps and vampires?
Spotlighting her novel, Vamps of '29, Alice Jurow will present a late afternoon literary cocktail salon. The program will include a mini-lecture on the history of the vamp; 1920s vamp fashions; and a reading of selected delicious passages.
Books will be available for purchase and signing – or order your copy from Amazon or Barnes & Noble.com and bring it along for an inscription. Your vampiest (or most vamp-appreciative) cocktail attire will be much admired.
No-host cocktail hour (featuring the 'Vampire's Kiss') begins at 3:30 pm; program begins at 4:30 pm.
Tickets at the door: $10 for ADSC members; $15 for non-members. Books (trade paperback) are $15.
For those with a taste for mortal food, dinner will be available in the Bellevue Club's beautiful Dining Room. Please make a reservation by June 9 if you plan to dine (510-451-1000), and be sure to let the club know if you need to cancel.
