Palmetto
Palmetto in Uptown Oakland is across the street from the restored Fox Oakland Theatre and just a block from the Oakland Paramount Theatre. It is one of the most important examples of Art Deco architecture in the world, and helping to save the building was the very first preservation project of the ADSC!
Many years later it finally was transformed from the old “Floral Depot” built in 1931 into the hip and glamorous Flora Restaurant (now Palmetto). The cobalt and silver glazed terra cotta is so spectacular that there is a replica of the building at Epcot Center in Florida!
